Orlando Bloom is speaking candidly about his relationship with fiancée Katy Perry.

Speaking on Today With Hoda & Jenna in an episode released April 19, the Lord of the Rings actor, 47, called working on a long-term romance “a daily thing.”

“She challenges me, I challenge her,” Bloom told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. “I think we kind of just demand that we get up every day,” he said: “ ‘I choose you, today, tomorrow, or whatever, or you choose me.’ ”

That daily choice is “one of the things I really admire in relationships,” he added. “As I’m getting [older], I’m like, ‘Oh wow’ — You know that somebody’s done the work if they stay together.”

Bloom also joked about his and his partner’s fluctuating moods: “Sometimes it’s like, I know she looks at me [like, ‘Stay away!’],” he said, putting his hand up and turning his head. “And I’m like, ‘Uh, okay…’ And it’s the same thing [for me]. ‘I’m going on a long walk, now! The dog needs to go!’ ”

In a recent interview with PEOPLE about his new Peacock series Orlando Bloom: To The Edge (now streaming), Bloom said that Perry, 39, “forces me to be the best version of myself — which can be really annoying —  but it's normally super valuable.”

The “Firework” singer "really holds me accountable, which I appreciate,” he added. “We both do that for each other. We definitely learn and grow through these things.”

Perry and Bloom, who met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016, got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2019. Following a pregnancy reveal a year later — in the music video for Perry’s song "Never Worn White” — the pair ended up postponing their nuptials in Japan due to the global pandemic. On Aug. 27, 2020, they announced the birth of their daughter, Daisy Dove.

Of the plans for their still-pending wedding, Perry shared on the Kyle & Jackie O radio show in 2022 that she and Bloom were still trying to pin down specifics. "It's a destination location that like, you know, we're still trying for it to work out," she said at the time.

During his appearance on the Thursday, April 18 episode of the What Now? with Trevor Noah podcast, Bloom opened up to host Trevor Noah about his relationship with Perry. "I wouldn't change it for anything, even when sometimes it feels like, 'How do we do this?' Because we've got these two giant careers and lives, and hers is even, you know... it's like a universe sometimes," he said.

"But I think I just keep coming back to her and trying to hold her hand and walk her back to the sand pit and be like... we're just gonna build a sandcastle," he continued.

Speaking to Kotb and Bush Hager, Bloom also teased “new music coming” from his fiancée. “I better be careful about what I say,” the Gran Turismo star quipped. “But there’s a lot of cool things happening.”

Bloom most recently starred in the thriller Red Right Hand. Orlando Bloom: To The Edge is now streaming on Peacock.
