Austin North is speaking out after he was arrested for an alleged attack on hospital employees in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to a police report obtained by TMZ, the Outer Banks star, 27, was taken into custody after allegedly attacking several staffers in the emergency room at the University Medical Center hospital. Officers were dispatched to the scene on Tuesday where they spoke to the alleged victims after reports of assault and battery.

In a statement on his Instagram Story Thursday, North addressed the incident, saying, "I am deeply upset by the events that took place in Las Vegas this past week. My friend drove me to the hospital because I thought I was having a heart attack. Several tests were taken, including blood, which came back negative for any drugs or alcohol in my system. I was having a severe anxiety attack."

"I have very little memory of the events that day at the hospital. I have the utmost respect for healthcare workers and hospital staff," he continued. "I have battled anxiety on and off for years and this was the most extreme panic attack I've ever had. Going forward, I hope to shed light on this debilitating disorder and send hope to those who have also struggled."

Per the police report, North allegedly assaulted several nurses and a phlebotomist after entering the emergency room on Tuesday.

Police reported that the actor allegedly punched a nurse in the head and shoved another in the face before pushing the phlebotomist into a table. The phlebotomist then reportedly used a tray nearby and hit him in the head as an act of self defense.

Hospital security finally restrained North and handcuffed him to a gurney, but not before he allegedly attacked another victim, whose function in the medical center was not clear, according to the report.

When law enforcement arrived, the Beautiful Disaster star was reportedly read his Miranda rights and North confirmed he understood he was being arrested for battery. The actor was then taken into custody and booked for gross misdemeanor battery. He was later released on bail.

PEOPLE has reached out to the Las Vegas Police Department for confirmation but did not receive an immediate response back.
