Outlander fans slam one reveal in the finale they ‘hated every minute of’ - and it’s not Faith
Outlander fans are already up in arms about a major twist in the season seven finale, but another huge reveal has also come under fire.
The latest episodes saw Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) facing down the American Revolution, the time-travelling nurse even experiencing another close brush with death.
Thankfully, Claire recovered from her near-fatal gunshot wound, but a revelation about her stillborn baby, Faith, was even more breathtaking.
With fans still reeling from the twist, other viewers have been complaining about another pivotal moment in the finale which will lead directly into Starz’s upcoming prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
After finally reuniting with Roger (Richard Rankin), Brianna (Sophie Skelton) meets her grandfather Brian Fraser (Andrew Whipp) for the first time at Lallybroch, and they discuss a painting of her grandmother Ellen, who’s set to be portrayed by Harriet Slater in the spin-off.

While the scene sets up plenty more heartbreaking Fraser drama, the staging of the scene itself and its obvious set-up for the new prequel has ruffled feathers amongst the fanbase.
One viewer took to Reddit and fumed: “Aside from the Faith drama, I couldn’t believe how ep.16 had Bree and Brian Fraser meet.
“I hated every minute of their awkward conversation! Why did they do it this way?!!”
Highlighting the same moment from Diana Gabaldon’s original novels, the post concluded: “It was so touching in the books where Brian sees Brianna from a distance in the graveyard (with the kids) and believes it’s his wife’s ghost visiting him.”
Brian is set to play a major role in the spin-off, which will premiere in 2025, though he’ll be portrayed by actor Jamie Roy. Plus, Claire’s parents Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp will be played by Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine.
Other viewers had similar complaints, with someone even claiming the two actors felt like they weren’t even in the same scene.
“That scene felt like they filmed the two actors individually on a green screen without the other around and that Brianna decided to try out a whole new voice and accent for it,” they said. “Lol It felt very disjointed in respect to the rest of the episode.”
And another said: “All I could think during that scene is that the producers were trying to gin up interest in the prequel. It felt completely forced and went on far too long.”
While a final viewer agreed: “They did it that way because it was an opening to plug their prequel or to try to pique interest in it.”
Hopefully, Outlander: Blood of My Blood lives up to the hype but, if the reaction to this scene in the season seven finale is anything to go by, it’s not off to a great start.
Outlander is available to watch on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and on Starz in the US.
