Overlooked factor behind Crysencio Summerville's Newcastle United transfer links

Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville has been named as a transfer target for Newcastle United.

Up until now, Newcastle's business has been impacted by compliance with Profit and Sustainability Rules and the quick of rivals to snap up key targets in the meantime - severely impacting the acquisition of attacking reinforcements. To raise necessary funds highly-rated youngster Yankuba Minteh was sold to Brighton, then Michael Olise has opted to join Bayern Munich.

A wide attacking player is on the agenda, and most recently it is Summerville suggested to relocate from Elland Road to St. James' Park before September's deadline day. Eddie Howe is said to be a big fan, with Leeds consigned to losing the Dutchman this window.

Newcastle interest would be understandable, as after a breakout campaign in the Premier League, the 22-year-old established himself as the key component of Daniel Farke's squad that reached the play-off final. In 49 appearances he scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists - more than anyone at the club combined.

But there lies one factor Summerville - no matter his talents - cannot make up for and suggests attentions are better focused elsewhere.

Newcastle are in a more pressing situation to find a new right-winger, rather than Summerville's preferred left-wing berth. Despite transfer chatter engulfing Anthony Gordon in recent weeks, he still remains a Magpie and that is how the club see the England international's future for the long-term.

Like Gordon and his deputy, Harvey Barnes, Summerville is a right-footed attacker who specialises in cutting in from the flank. This is how Howe prefers his attackers, with Miguel Almiron operating on the opposite side as a left-footer.

With either a replacement or an upgrade potentially needed for the Paraguayan, plenty of other attackers on the market fit a closer profile to Howe's preferences. That is without recruiting Summerville with the intention of going against the grain.
