Oxfordshire school poo "vandalism" incident deemed accidental

A school in Oxfordshire has asked students to delete photographs of a "serious vandalism incident" involving poo and not to share them online.

Our Lady's Abingdon head Daniel Gibbons said parents had been contacted about the incident.

Mr Gibbons confirmed that initial enquiries had concluded the incident may have been accidental, and "there was no evidence to suggest that it was an act of deliberate vandalism".

"As an independent school, which prides itself on being a small and nurturing environment with high expectations of all pupils, vandalism is rare and any act, however minor or even if it is accidental, is deemed as serious," he told the Oxford Mail.

"We contacted parents immediately to make them aware that it was being dealt with by the school."

The Oxford Mail has seen the email sent to parents and guardians in which Mr Gibbons outlined that images of the incident in the school library may have been circulated on social media.

He told parents the pupils had been asked to delete all images, and that he had also spoken to students about the seriousness of vandalism - it being an offence for which pupils could be excluded.

No pupils have been excluded as a result of the incident and the matter is no longer under internal investigation.

Our Lady's Abingdon is a Catholic Independent coeducational secondary school on Radley Road.
