Ozzy Osbourne wins Icon prize at Rolling Stone UK Awards

Ozzy Osbourne was honoured with the Icon Award at the inaugural Rolling Stone UK Awards on Thursday night.

Sharon Osbourne received the honour on behalf of the Black Sabbath rocker during the U.K. publication's first in-person awards show at the Roundhouse in London.

In a video message, he said, "I'm so sorry I couldn't be there tonight, only something cropped up and I just couldn't make the flight. My wife's gonna be there on my behalf and she's great. The only one bit of advice is keep her away from the bar because she gets very rowdy when she has a few drinks!"

The 74-year-old told viewers that the award "means everything" to him because he never thought he would have such a long and successful career.

"I never ever thought I'd be a living icon, never thought I'd be doing this for more than a couple of years, but around 50 years on and I'm getting an award from Rolling Stone UK!" he continued.

"It would mean nothing if it wasn't for the fans. The fans mean absolutely everything to me because, without the fans, I haven't got a job, you know what I mean? They're so loyal, they have been loyal to me for many, many years. God bless you all and have a great, great night."

Accepting the prize from Yungblud on her husband's behalf, Sharon told the audience, "Thank you for constantly supporting him. Ozzy is what rock and roll is all about. He's wild, he's fabulous, he's talented. He's like a f**king uncaged animal, and I adore him."

Earlier in the ceremony, Daniel Kaluuya took home the Film Award for The Kitchen, Doctor Who won the Television Award, Jessie Ware was honoured with the Artist Award and The Chemical Brothers won the Album Award for their latest release, For That Beautiful Feeling.

The show featured performances from former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, The Last Dinner Party, and Kenya Grace.
