Paisley man accused of murder bid on cop
A man who allegedly chased a police officer with a chainsaw has been charged with attempted murder.
Liridon Kastrati is said to have pursued the officers with the power tool in the Ralston area of Paisley on Monday afternoon.
Kastrati, of Paisley, faced seven charges over the incident, which sparked a large scale police response in the quiet residential street.
As well as being charged with attempted murder, he also faces charges of being in possession of an offensive weapon, breach of the peace, and four road traffic offences.
The 30-year-old appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday afternoon and made no plea.
He was remanded in custody and the case against him was continued for prosecutors to investigate further.
No future court dates have been set, but he is expected to make a second court appearance in connection with the case next week.
