Park life for Rode as they continue superb start to NSSCL Division Six season

Rode Park & Lawton seconds claimed their sixth straight win by beating Newcastle & Hartshill thirds in NSSCL Division Six.

Castle went into the contest with an unblemished record, but that was ended as their fellow high-fliers won by three wickets.

Newcastle & Hartshill were limited to 132-9 from their 40 overs in the first half of the meeting.

Ethan Gater top-scored with 45, while Andrew Marshall scooped 3-14 and there were two wickets apiece for Peyton Hulme and Gary Jennison.

Double strikes from George Hickman and Deacon Purcell kept Castle in the hunt for victory after the interval.

But Rode Park & Lawton managed to cross the line thanks to Dan Archer’s 44 and Alistair Currie’s 38.

Whitmore thirds were also celebrating a super six as they maintained their unbeaten start by defeating Blythe seconds.

Whitmore stuck 165 all out on the board early in the afternoon, in which Dinesh Weerasinghe Mudalige top-scored with 33.

Shabaz Shirzad (3-8) and Jamie Roberts (3-40) led the Blythe bowling effort, with Waqar Ali snaring two scalps.

Qmer Ikram (44) starred on the resumption, but there was precious little support floating about.

And Weerasinghe Mudalige captured 5-19 to send the home side sliding to 93 all out.

Endon seconds clinched a two-wicket triumph at home against Meakins thirds.

A fine bowling effort by Endon saw them dismiss their rivals for just 92.

Ronnie Jones (4-38) and two wickets apiece from Alex Ravenscroft, Matt Cowan and Ryan Hancock did the damage.

Jake Coxon was the main contributor with the bat for Meakins, making 22.

Coxon then helped himself to 3-11 in Endon’s run chase, with Saif Shakir and Ollie Radzins sharing four wickets.

But the home side managed to cross the line, mainly thanks to Paul Fox’s 44.

Oakamoor thirds romped to the points on their trip to Onneley seconds.

Mohammed Razaq chipped in with 30 - and Tahir Raza added 26 - but Onneley were dismissed for 108.

Amy Carnwell helped herself to 3-16 and Arthur Wood snared 3-30. Jake Day added a couple of victims.

Oakamoor completed a nine-wicket victory after tea as Mikey Edwards struck 44 and Andrew Booth finished unbeaten on 42.

Wood Lane seconds made home advantage count to see off the challenge of Nantwich thirds.

Nantwich took first use, but were restricted to 109-8 from their 40 overs, in which Luke Cosford top-scored with 37.

Lewis Gibson fronted the Wood Lane attack, taking 3-17, with Michael Heath and Michael Leigh taking a couple of victims apiece.

Jacob Howell celebrated his own double in reply, but Matthew Hagan’s 40 led Wood Lane to a four-wicket win.

Woore seconds won by 13 runs at home against Moddershall & Oulton sixths.

Andrew Burton’s 90 not out underpinned Woore’s 173-7 early on. His innings contained 13 fours.

Charles Weaver (33) lent support, with Samuel Wright picking up a couple of wickets.

In reply, James Baxter (34), Khalid Hameed (28), Muhammad Atif Ejaz (26) and Wright (21) shone.

However, the Modd outfit were kept at arm’s length and closed on 160 all out.

Molly Ferneyhough, Iliana Chatzigeorgiou, Andrew Kenvyn and Burton all struck twice.
