Patrick Mahomes is poking fun at his teammate and close friend Travis Kelce.
Mahomes, 28, snuck in a friendly jab at 34-year-old Kelce for being one of the Kansas City Chiefs' oldest players on the roster during a public appearance at the 101 Awards in Missouri, where he accepted the Derrick Thomas Award on Friday.
In a video shared by Fox 4 KC reporter PJ Green on X (formerly known as Twitter), Mahomes singled out Kelce's seniority when reporters asked him about the Chiefs' signing wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown one week prior.
The Kansas City quarterback said he's "been impressed by how hungry [Brown] has been" and "you can tell he wants to win," while sharing his reaction to the addition of 26-year-old Brown.
“Obviously, he wants to do good and everybody wants to do good. But you can tell he wants to be a part of something that’s special, part of greatness,” Mahomes added, as seen in Green's video o X.
Then, Mahomes added, “We’re trying to build that here and we believe that we’ve started it and we want to continue it. We still have a young team — other than Trav.”
The Super Bowl MVP smirked after the comment and continued, “If we can continue to build this with a lot of people who are hungry and wanna win, we can keep this thing going.”
The Chiefs currently have six players 30 years or older on their roster, including Kelce. Safety Deon Smith and offensive tackle Donovan Smith are both 30, tight end Blake Bell and defensive tackle Mike Pennel are 32, and guard Joe Thuney is 31.
The only player older than Kelce is long-snapper James Winchester, who was born on Aug. 6, 1989, just two months before Kelce's Oct. 5 birthdate.

Mahomes and Kelce have undoubtedly found success on the football field together, winning three Super Bowls for Kansas City, and recently the NFL stars announced their joint ventures outside of the sport.
Earlier this month, Mahomes and Kelce announced they're opening a steakhouse, 1587 Prime, in Kansas City. The name is a combination of both of their jersey numbers, and the eatery will be inside the Loews Kansas City Hotel.
Global hospitality group, Noble 33, is partnering with the athletes to bring their vision to life.
And in October, Mahomes and Kelce were announced as the lead investors in an ownership group that secured a $218 million investment into a Formula 1 team, Alpine Racing.
They'll join four-time golf champion Rory McIlroy and Olympic boxing gold medalist Anthony Joshua in the ownership group, alongside Kelce's management company, A&A Management.
In a statement released at the time of announcement, Kelce said the partnership with Mahomes and "world-class" private equity firm Otro Capital is a "dream come true" at this stage of his career.
"We are embracing this opportunity to be a part of something extraordinary, and we look forward to contributing our passion and commitment to this incredible team," Kelce said.
