Watch: Patsy Palmer does 'a Piers Morgan' as she quits GMB interview
Patsy Palmer announced she was doing “a Piers Morgan” and stormed off Good Morning Britain after taking offence at a reference to her former substance abuse troubles.
The EastEnders star was chatting virtually to hosts Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid about her wellness brand when she spotted that the banner at the bottom of the screen read “Patsy Palmer: Addict to wellness guru”.
She told the presenters: "You know what, actually I don’t even want to do this interview because I don’t even want to look at what it says at the bottom of that screen.
"So I’m just going to switch off, do a real Piers Morgan and just say it's not OK to have ‘Addict to wellness guru’ on the bottom of the screen."
Palmer, 48, went on: "My issues that I had years ago that were talked about by me many, many years ago and it’s over, so I’m not going to talk to you.
“Don’t worry about it, but I don’t really want to talk to you.”
Presenters Reid and Shephard rushed to apologise, but Palmer insisted she wasn’t doing the interview.
She then switched off her screen, leaving the hosts looking shocked.
“I had no idea that was on the screen," said Reid. “That's a terrible shame. Our apologies to Patsy.
"She's entitled not to do the interview, and we carry on."
Shephard also said they had not intended to upset the star in any way.
Palmer – who found fame playing Albert Square’s Bianca – has previously opened up about using drink and drugs when she was younger, but has been clean for many years.
Her sudden GMB exit comes just days after Morgan stormed off the set following a heated discussion with presenter Alex Beresford over his comments about Meghan Markle.
Morgan later stepped down from the show.
Yahoo has contacted ITV for comment.
