James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon, the sons of Paul McCartney and John Lennon, have written a new song called ‘Primrose Hill’ – you can listen to it in full below.

The latest effort from the Beatles offspring is a powerful acoustic effort which sees them reflect on happy memories of time spent at the romantic London city-gazing spot.

I’ll always remember Primrose Hill,” sings McCartney – backed by a suitably subdued guitar line.

Announcing the song’s release, McCartney wrote on social media: “‘Primrose Hill'” is here!”

“Today I am so very excited to share my latest song co-written by my good friend @seanonolennon. With the release of this song it feels like we’re really getting the ball rolling and I am so excited to continue to share music with you.”

James has been releasing a steady slew of solo material since 2010, but also took a role in creation of his father’s albums Flaming Pie in 1997 and Driving Rain in 2001. He also took a role in the release of 1998’s Wide Prairie, a posthumous release from his mother Linda McCartney.

The release comes after rumours emerged last year about a possible supergroup formed of the original Beatles’ children. It began when Zak Starkey, son of Ringo Starr, shared a photo of himself and Sean Ono Lennon on Instagram. Despite the meeting, he was quick to shut down fan speculation that a new group could be on the way.

“If we had spent 3 years sleeping on flea infested mattresses in the back room of a Hamburg club it might have chemistry,” he began. “But we have been swaddled in silken robes in houses so big that it’s too far to go and make a piece of toast – seen?,” he aptly explained.

Until then, this song will make a more than decent alternative.
