Paul Stanley pays tribute to 'true rocker' Eric Carmen

Paul Stanley has paid tribute to "true rocker" Eric Carmen following his death.

The singer-songwriter's wife Amy Carmen announced on his official website on Monday that the All By Myself and Hungry Eyes hitmaker passed away in his sleep over the weekend. He was 74.

Reacting to the news, KISS rocker Stanley shared a photo of the Raspberries singer on X/Twitter alongside a heartfelt caption.

"Awful News. Eric Carmen has died. Although known to many for writing radio hits like All By Myself and others, Eric was a true rocker at heart," he wrote. "His voice had elements of (Paul) McCartney and Steve Marriott. The Raspberries did shows with us. A killer band live & I loved their records."

Announcing Carmen's death on his website, his wife shared, "Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend. It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy."

She concluded the post with the quote, "Love is all that matters... faithful and forever," from his 1977 solo album Boats Against The Current.

Carmen co-founded the Raspberries in the early 1970s and they released their self-titled debut album in 1972. After four albums, the Go All the Way hitmakers split in 1975 and Carmen pursued a solo career, releasing six albums between 1975 and 2000.

His solo track Hungry Eyes featured in the 1987 movie Dirty Dancing, while All By Myself was famously covered by Celine Dion. His other solo hits included Never Gonna Fall in Love Again, She Did It and Make Me Lose Control.
