Payne Springs Fire Rescue needing donations for new rescue tools

PAYNE SPRINGS, Texas (KETK) – Payne Springs Fire Rescue said they are accepting donations to purchase new rescue tools as an Enchanted Oaks resident has committed to match dollar for dollar up to $25,000.

The volunteer fire department said the tools are used to remove people out of vehicles when in a severe crash and they are looking to replace them because their tools are at least 15 years old.

“An increase in serious wrecks have highlighted this issue and we feel we need to act now as we have suffered failures with our current tools in two recent calls. In our last extrication we actually suffered a failure in two sets of tools, luckily one occurred after we removed the trapped subject from the vehicle,” the fire department said.

Their goal is to raise $50,000 to purchase faster, more powerful and more reliable tools.

On Monday, the fire department said a man had committed to match donations.

“This is absolutely amazing. I am not sure if I can properly express my appreciation for this commitment,” Chief Adam Robinson said.
