Pedestrian knocked down by vehicle on main route through Callander

The main route through Callander was shut after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle there.

Police Scotland were called to the town's Main Street - at its junction with the A81 Bridge Street - at around 11am on Thursday, May 9, following reports of a collision.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Emergency services are in attendance.

"The road is closed at the A84 at Doune. Diversions are in place."

Local optician, Baird Optometry, situated just a short distance away from the scene took to social media to update the situation. They posted at 11.40am: "Please note that Callander Main Street is currently closed due to serious road traffic accident. Our thoughts are with all involved including the emergency response teams."
