A pedestrian was seriously injured after a crash on the Cambridgeshire border on Saturday night (May 4). The driver failed to stop at the scene of the crash on Wisbech Road at West Walton.

The crash happened on Wisbech Road at the junction of Hunchback Lane, between 9.30pm and 9.45pm. It involved a blue Renault Megane Scenic car and pedestrian, a man in his 30s.

The man was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital.

Road closures were in place from Wisbech Road to West Walton last night while emergency services were on scene. They have since been lifted.

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol, failing to stop and no insurance. He is being questioned at King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre.

A Norfolk Police spokesperson said: "Anyone with any information, dash cam footage, or who witnessed the manner of driving of the blue Megane between the times stated are asked to get in contact. Residents of Wisbech Road in West Walton are asked to check CCTV cameras and ring doorbells.
