Penrith and Solway general election 2024 results in full

Voters in Penrith and Solway have gone to the ballot box for the general election 2024.

A new Member of Parliament is being elected for the Cumbria constituency which includes the Allerdale wards of All Saints; Allhallow and Waverton; Aspatria; Boltons; Broughton St. Bridgets; Christchurch; Crummock and Derwent Valley; Ellen and Gilcrux; Keswick; Marsh and Warmpool; Maryport North; Maryport South; Silloth & Solway Coast; Warnell; Wigton and Woodside the City of Carlisle ward of Dalston and Burgh.

It also includes the Eden wards of Alston Moor; Hartside; Hesket; Kirkoswald; Langwathby; Lazonby; Penrith Carleton; Penrith East; Penrith North; Penrith Pategill; Penrith South; Penrith West and Skelton.

The newly created electoral district includes parts of the abolished Penrith and The Border and Workington constituencies, as well as Whitehaven Workington and Carlisle. As it is a new seat there is no existing MP..

The shock summer general election was called by Rishi Sunak on May 22, with elections taking place in all 650 seats across the UK. Since the 2019 general election major boundary changes affecting 90% of Parliamentary constituencies have come into force.

Ahead of the election, a Conservative government had been in power in Parliament since 2010.

Polls closed in the general election 2024 at 10pm on Thursday, July 4, with counts taking place overnight. Results from across the UK are expected in the early hours of Friday morning.
