Pensioner dies at Scots beach as cops launch probe into 'unexplained death'

A pensioner has tragically died at a Scots beach as cops confirm they have launched a probe into the 'unexplained death.' .

Emergency crews scrambled to Banff Beach in Aberdeenshire at around 6.20pm on Friday, June 21. However, 69-year-old woman could not be saved and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Cops confirmed the death is being treated as unexplained at this stage but have ruled out any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, reports Aberdeen Live.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police received a report of concern for a woman in the water at Banff beach around 6.20pm on Friday, June 21, 2024.

"Emergency services attended, however the 69-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is being treated as unexplained but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances."
