Pensioner Left Homeless After FOUR Cars Crash Into His House In Two Years

A pensioner has been forced to live in a caravan after FOUR cars and lorries crashed into his house in less than two years.

John Rowley had been hoping to move back into his £300,000 detached farm house in Sharnford, Leics, after a lorry virtually demolished the front of the property last August.

But after spending out thousands of pounds worth of repairs, a Ford C-Max span off the road into his kitchen after losing control on a bend on Wednesday.

Unbelievably, the car crashed into the spot that had just been rebuilt after an almost identical crash two years ago.

Retired engineer John, 71, who has lived in the house for 25 years, blamed the surface of the road for the spate of accidents.

He said: “They’re going to put traffic lights up while they do the work because they know the road is unsafe.

"It’s rained again, it’s the same every time.

"I spoke to the county highways department nine months ago and they said they were going to do something to the road surface - that won’t solve it.

"They’re just hopeless, they don’t do anything and they don’t want to spend anything because they say they’ve got no money.

"They don’t care until somebody gets killed.”

The first time John’s property was hit was when a car skidded off the road and into the side of his house two years ago causing damage to the former granary wall.

The second incident involved a 44-tonne lorry which smashed into the side of the building while John was lying in bed last August.

In April this year another car lost control and skidded off the road causing minor structural damage to the front of the house.

A Leicestershire County Council spokesperson said they were due to start improvements on the road in the next few weeks.

They added: “This work will help to reduce the risk of skidding in the area.”
