Pep Lijnders is reportedly looking to sign a Liverpool player just weeks after leaving the club.

Lijnders left his role as the Reds assistant manager earlier this summer. Jurgen Klopp stepped down from his role in the Anfield dugout, with Liverpool opting to replace the German with new head coach Arne Slot.

The change in management will see Slot have his own backroom staff and a new era dawn on the Red half of Merseyside. As part of the change, Lijnders has left Liverpool and has taken on the role of manager at Red Bull Salzburg, where he has Vitor Matos as his assistant having left his role as elite development coach in Klopp's backroom staff.

Reports from Austria have emerged claiming that Lijnders is looking to target a member of the Liverpool squad. According to Salzburger Nachrichten, Reds goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros has emerged as a target for Salzburg this summer.

The report claims that Lijnders will be forced to search for a new goalkeeper after it was confirmed that Timo Horn would leave the club. Now Salzburg will be searching for a new shot-stopper, with Jaros emerging as a target.

Jaros spent the second half of last season on loan with Sturm Graz in Austria. He made 21 appearances in all competitions, including four in the Europa Conference League.

Liverpool's goalkeeping department could be set for major changes this summer. Alisson Becker has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, although reports have suggested the player is not interested in leaving the Reds anytime soon.

Caoimhin Kelleher has also been heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool in search of regular first-team football. Plus, Adrian looks increasingly likely to depart as a free agent when his contract expires this summer.

Jaros is part of the Czechia squad at Euro 2024 and could play a key role for his country at the tournament this summer. However, the Liverpool goalkeeper may have to settle for a place on the bench with Jindrich Stanek and Matej Kovar in the squad.
