Valentine's Day isn't just exclusive to couples, it's the perfect time to show the loved ones around you how important they are and in our opinion that also includes our fur friends too. If you want to spoil your dog this Valentine's, all while helping a charity dedicated to caring for dogs.

From Friday, Valentine's Day (February 14), until Sunday February 16, you can participate in an event for dog lovers, with activities designed to keep pups entertained. At Dobbies Garden Centre, your pup will be completely indulged with treats and puppacinos.

A sniff-ari has been organised, which is an exploration trail around the store where dogs can take the lead and use their noses to learn about their environments. Sniffing for dogs is great for their mental and physical wellbeing.

It is believed to reduce stress and provide mental stimulation, thus managing behaviour. Sniffing helps dogs gather information about their surroundings.

Dogs attending the event will also be gifted a toy and dog treats in a special goody bag. Owners and their pooches can enjoy a free hot drink and puppacino in the dog friendly restaurant with every purchase of sliced cake.

Those attending can also enjoy a discount on vouchers for the pet department. The team on site will also offer the opportunity to take a digital photo of pups and their owners in front of a Valentine's Day backdrop.

The event has been organised in conjunction with Dogs Trust, the charity helps more than 14,000 dogs a year. From rehoming to rehabilitation to behaviour support, Dogs Trust aims to help every dog live life to the full.

If you're planning on making a day of it, you could also visit the Round Shaw Downs, a large open green space perfect for dog walking. There's also a nature reserve nearby called Croham Hurst Woods, where you can find a woodland of beech, birch, hazel and oak trees.

The woods are also on the edge of a steep hill, with a wonderful view from the top. It's an ancient woodland which has evidence of once potentially being the site of a Stone Age settlement.

SurreyLive can also recommend somewhere to stop off in the area for a cosy pub visit that is totally dog friendly. You can even stay overnight at this pub, which has a crackling fire and provides snuggly blankets and dog beds.

The Duke's Head in Wallington has delicious offerings on the menu, including Cornish Camembert, herb crusted trout fillet and pork, apple and leek sausages. The pub website also recommends several lovely walking spots nearby, including Beddington Park and Carshalton Ponds.

Customers say the pub is "lovely" with a cosy ambience and a great menu. Overall, it's got a 4.7 star rating on Google.
