Person dies on train tracks near Weston-super-Mare

A person has died on the train tracks near Weston-super-Mare this morning (Friday, May 17). Emergency services were called at 10.52am to reports of a casualty on the railway line.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene but, sadly, a person was pronounced dead. Police said the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Train services between Taunton and Bristol Temple Meads were cancelled or delayed following the incident. CrossCountry Trains warned customers of delays of up to an hour on some services.

British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line near Weston-Super Mare at around 10.52am today (17 May) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
