Person dies on train tracks in Plymouth

Train disruption in Devon sparks chaos at Plymouth station

A person has died following an incident on the train tracks in Plymouth. Emergency services were sent to the scene just after 9am this morning after a person was found on the tracks.

Police have now confirmed that the casualty has died. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Trains in the area were cancelled throughout the morning while emergency services dealt with the incident. Lines reopened at around 1pm.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "“Officers were called to the line in Plymouth at around 9.14am today (5 July) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
