One person was taken to hospital after a motorbike crash closed a Thornaby street.

Police and paramedics were called to Cunningham Drive, just off the A1045, around 6.30pm on Tuesday after a vehicle and motorcycle collided. A cordon was erected across the busy road as police used cones to block the scene off to motorists.

Pictures from the aftermath show a damaged red motorbike and black Range Rover, with parts of the bike seen littered across the road. The North East Ambulance Service has now confirmed that one person was taken to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, for treatment.

Their condition is not currently known - and Teesside Live has contacted Cleveland Police for further information.

A NEAS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 6.25pm last night (Tuesday, April 30) to reports of a road traffic incident on the junction of Brechin Drive and Cunningham Drive in Thornaby. We dispatched an ambulance crew and a specialist paramedic to the scene. One patient was taken to the James Cook University Hospital for further treatment."
