Person taken to hospital as police surround Leicester McDonald's

One person has been taken to hospital after police officers surrounded a McDonald's in Leicester city centre. Police cars and two ambulance vehicles were seen outside the restaurant on East Gates at around 5pm today (Friday, April 19).

East Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed a 999 call had been made. They said a person had been taken to hospital following the emergency call.

An East Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "I can confirm we received an emergency 999 call at 17.03 this evening to the McDonalds Restaurant on East Gate, Leicester. We dispatched an ambulance and a car.

"One patient was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary via ambulance."

Leicestershire Police have been contacted.
