Yahoo News Pete Davidson Drives Eminem’s Getaway Car in “Houdini” Music Video
Shady’s back.
Pete Davidson, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Shane Gillis, Snoop Dogg and more make a special appearance in Eminem’s star-studded music video for “Houdini,” the first single from his upcoming 12th album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).

In the final moments of the nearly five-minute video, Davidson appears alongside the yellow sports car Eminem is in and gets in the driver’s seat. “Trust me, I’m a great driver,” the former Saturday Night Live castmember tells the rapper. “Don’t worry. I just got my license back,” he adds, seemingly referencing his reckless driving charge for driving a Mercedes into a home in Beverly Hills last year.
The song and music video featured several callbacks to the rapper’s earlier work, starting in the first few seconds with his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg telling him that he heard the album and wishing him luck because he’s on his own. Rosenberg has done the same bit for his previous albums, including The Slim Shady LP, Encore, Relapse, The Marshall Mathers LP and more.
The new music video pays direct homage to his “Without Me” music video, both of which open with Eminem in bed with two women and Dre calling him with an emergency for Rapboy, the rapper’s superhero alter ego. Both videos were shot in a comic book style and feature some lyrics on the screen in playful fonts. Eminem also samples his scream from “Just Lose It” in the single.
In the “Houdini” video, the music producer shows Eminem a video of his 20-something self, complete with bleach-blond hair, entering the present day from 2002 via a portal. Donning his Rapboy costume, which resembles Robin’s, Eminem joins Dre in a race to find the younger version of himself before he wreaks havoc on their city and cancels present-day Slim Shady.
One of the lyrics of the new single also references Troy Lanez shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. The lyrics read, “If I was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me/ Would I really have a shot at a feat? I don’t know, but I’m glad to be, back.”
Not much is known about Eminem’s upcoming album, which Dre announced during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this year. The rapper’s longtime collaborator also has a production credit on some of the tracks on The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), which is set to be released sometime this summer.
