Pete and Sophie Sandiford were TV stars way before Gogglebox

Gogglebox brother and sister Pete and Sophie Sandiford are one of the show's most loved families.

The Blackpool siblings have had fans in stitches since they joined the popular Channel 4 programme back in 2017. They make hilarious comments as they critique the week's best telly every Friday night.

But Gogglebox isn't the first time Sophie and Pete have appeared on our screens. In fact, they were actually scouted for the show after appearing in a series of adverts.

As previously reported, TalkTalk launched its "This Stuff Matters" campaign in 2016, after spending months interviewing families up and down the country. They finally set their sights on the Sandifords from Blackpool.

Mum Julie, Dad Paul, and kids Sophie and Pete - along with their brother and sister Lucy and Harry - and Elvis the dog all took part. They were filmed non stop for two weeks with 17 unmanned cameras to find the perfect "ordinary, everyday moments".

The end result was an advert that looks a lot like... Gogglebox. The Sandifords can be seen watching TV, eating their tea and chatting to friends on the phone and via video calls.

One tender moment shows Pete and Sophie embraced in a hug, while another shows the siblings trying to find out where the leak in a bottle of milk is coming from. The final clip shows the entire family sat together watching TV.
