Motorcyclist killed in three-vehicle Papworth Everard bypass crash

A man has died following a crash near Papworth Everard yesterday afternoon (19 June)

A man has died following a crash on a Cambridgeshire village road on Wednesday (June 19). The incident took place on the A1198 Papworth Everard bypass at around 4:50pm.

Paul Istead, 53, of Victory Avenue. Peterborough, was riding a black Kawasaki motorcycle when he was involved in a crash with a silver Ford Focus, and then a blue Mazda CX-3. The motorcyclist, from Peterborough, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another motorcyclist travelling with him on a blue Yahama bike was not injured. The drivers of the Ford and the Mazda were not seriously injured, remained at the scene and are assisting police with the investigation.

Cambridgeshire Police is appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, has dashcam footage, or believe they saw the vehicles in the build-up to what happened should to get in touch with them immediately. This can be done online, quoting incident 364 of 19 June, or by calling 101 and asking to speak to a member of the Road Policing Unit.
