PETERSBURG — The inaugural Armed Forces Day event will take place in Petersburg on Saturday, May 18, a day of tribute to honor the six branches of the U.S. military and Reserve components: Marine Corps, Air Force, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Space Force, Army National Guard and Air National Guard. The community will pay special tribute to men and women who currently serve and have served.

A special guest at the first annual Armed Forces Day will be 2024 Miss America Madison Marsh, 2nd Lt. U.S. Air Force. She is the first active-duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces to to earn the Miss America crown. In 2023, Marsh, a civilian pilot an astrophysicist, was crowned Miss Academy and Miss Colorado.

You are invited to join the celebration downtown to salute our troops. There will be multiple event zones with activities, military exhibits, music, antique cars and small businesses will be participating as well.

  • 9 a.m.: Opening ceremonies in front of Exchange Building

  • 10 a.m.: Fun begins in Event Zones on W. Bank, Sycamore, Rock and Old Streets

  • 11 a.m.: Music, activities in Art Park at Petersburg Area Art League

  • 2 p.m.: Live music on patio at Trapezium Brewing Company
