Fuming Philippe Clement darted straight for the tunnel as Rangers suffered a catastrophic title blow in the Highlands.

The Ibrox boss snubbed a traditional handshake with Don Cowie and marched straight for the dressing room at the Global Energy Stadium as Gers collapsed to a shock 3-2 defeat against relegation-threatened County. It means Gers can no longer leapfrog Celtic at the top of the table if they win their game in hand against Dundee on Wednesday, with their Old Firm rivals now in the driving seat for three-in-a-row.

Clement was clearly angry with what he had witnessed from his side in Dingwall as Sky Sports cameras captured the Belgian stomp straight down the tunnel seconds after the final. Managers traditionally shake hands at full-time but Clement had other things on his mind. He told Sky Sports: “I do that sometimes (go straight up the tunnel) but there wasn’t too much to celebrate so I was there to say the right words to my team in the dressing room."

Clement's reaction didn't go down well on social media, with ex-Hibs striker Tam McManus posting: "Did Clement blank Cowie’s handshake at the end there? Very poor if so."

However, he did eventually shake hands with Cowie as both managers conducted their post-match interviews with the media. The moment was spotted by Hearts legend and BBC pundit John Robertson who said: "After the match it was noted that Philippe Clement walked down the tunnel.

"But right there, he waited until Don Cowie finished his interview there and gave him the biggest hug you've ever seen. They shook hands and said well done, so it was a nice touch."
