Phillip Schofield has made a return to social media, marking his first post since his departure from This Morning. Schofield bid farewell to the popular ITV breakfast show in May 2023 after confessing to having lied about an affair with a younger colleague on the programme, amidst rumours of a feud with co-host Holly Willoughby, 43.

The father of two had been a presenter on This Morning for two decades, spending 14 of those years alongside Holly, who also exited the show in October of the previous year. After a year-long hiatus from social media, the former TV host, now 62, posted a photo on Instagram of his dog watching the F1, captioned: 'Thankfully Alfie is a big F1 fan. '.

Over 13,000 individuals have liked Phillip's post, and his bio now reads: 'Nothing beats kindness, it sits quietly beyond all things. ' Since confessing to lying about the 'unwise but not illegal' affair, Schofield has kept a low profile, seemingly putting his television career on hold.

The affair occurred while he was still married to Stephanie Lowe and before he publicly came out as gay on live television in 2020. Phillip previously expressed that he 'lost everything' and feared he would 'never work on telly again' due to the scandal last year.

This return to social media comes following reports that Phillip is contemplating a comeback a move reportedly encouraged by Saturday Night Takeaway star Declan Donnelly. Since his departure from This Morning, Phillip has maintained a close relationship with former ITV colleagues including Ant and Dec, and Stephen Mulhern.

However, Alison Hammond previously declined to comment on the situation. Lorraine Kelly has also publicly voiced her support for the presenter this year.

In a chat with The Times, she expressed that Phillip was 'doing all right and he will be all right, but it's hard.' She confessed to being 'heartbroken' when the scandal and subsequent fallout occurred, stating: 'It's just a shame for the amazing career that he's had, for it to end like that.'

An insider told The Sun that some TV executives have reached out to Phillip for a potential TV comeback, and his friends have encouraged him to consider it. 'Phil is still reeling from everything that transpired last year and is currently content focusing on rebuilding his life with the support of his friends and family,' they shared.

'Whether he will stage a comeback be it on TV or radio remains undecided, but the offers are there should he wish to pursue them,' the source further added.
