After a year of no public posting or use of social media, former TV presenter Phillip Schofield has broken his social media silence. It comes over a year since he resigned from ITV and public life.

Posting a picture of his dog watching the TV, Phillip said: "Thankfully, Alfie is a big @f1 fan [heart emojis]." The former This Morning presenter, 62, shared a photograph from his bedroom as he watched Formula One. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.

In the shot, Phillip appears to be lying on his bed while his dog watches the TV screen in front of him. The post was quickly liked by his daughters Ruby, 27, and Molly, 30, as well as his former This Morning co-host Josie Gibson. Want less ads? Download WalesOnline’s Premium app on Apple or Android.

Phillip first left the long-running magazine show This Morning after reports of a rift with Holly Willoughby and then revealed he had an affair with a younger member of This Morning staff before quitting ITV completely. Months after Phillip quit This Morning Holly also left the show which is now presented by Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.

After leaving This Morning Phillip posted to his Instagram story to say the show was not "toxic" after former colleagues made claims about the programme. He said: "Now I no longer work on @thismorning I am free to say this. I hope you have noticed that it's the same handful of people with a grudge against me or the show who seem to have the loudest voice

"This morning IS the best show to work on, with the best people. In all the years I worked there there was no toxicity. You can listen to those persistently loud voices if you like. But the thousands of guests over the years, thousands of staff and crew, hundreds of presenters and contributors all know, it IS a family of wonderful, talented, kind, hard working people."
