Phillip Schofield shares photo with bandaged eye after procedure to fix 'debilitating' floaters

Phillip Schofield has shared a picture showing him with a bandage over his eye after undergoing a procedure to remove floaters.

The This Morning star had been suffering with floaters for a while, calling them "debilitating", but last month told fans he'd had them "sucked out" of his left eye.

He has now had his other eye done and told his followers on Instagram that he hopes being free of floaters is his big summer success.

The snap posted on the star's Instagram Story showed Schofe perched in a chair surrounded by medical staff.

He was wearing a hospital gown and had a large bandage over his eye.

"Now my right eye is done!" he said.

"Thank you Prof Stanga and his amazing team. If the success of my summer is to be 'floater' free, that's good enough for me."

He added two smiling emojis to his cheerful post.

Schofield, 60, has previously spoken about how frustrating having floaters could be.

"My vision is like a filthy bathroom window drifting across my eyes, and it drives me crazy," he told his co-host Holly Willoughby on the ITV programme last year.

After having his first eye done he posted a lengthy message on Instagram detailing the procedure, saying it was "pioneering and costly".

"I had Elective limited pars plana vitrectomy surgery," he said.

"It didn’t hurt!

"If you have been told ‘just live with them’ that is not necessarily true, I’m sure there are exceptions, but they can be fixed. A full vitrectomy will usually cause a cataract quite soon after, a limited vitrectomy won’t."

"These floaters have literally blighted my otherwise brilliant eyesight," added the TV star.

"For the first time in many years, right now, I’m looking at a clear blue sky, it is mood/mind and life changing for me. People who don’t have terrible floaters won’t understand what they do to your head and until now they really haven’t been taken seriously."
