PICTURES show a large part of Basildon town centre shut off as camera crews were spotted filming in the town.

Barriers were put up from the "mother and child" fountain to outside the Costa Coffee shop in Town Square this morning.

The reason for the cordon has not been confirmed at this stage, but residents reported seeing a "massive" camera in the square.

It is believed camera crews were filming an O2 advert.

This would not be the first time south Essex has been chosen as a filming location for adverts, with Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield spotted at Southend Victoria as an advert for Sky was filmed in April.
