The History Of Apple - 40 Years Of Tech Innovation

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the release of the very first Apple product by business partners and college dropouts Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs.

The Apple I computer went on sale in 1976, hand-built by cofounder Wozniak and with a pricetag of $666.66. It became one of the fastest selling computers in history.

The design, based on a basic circuit board to which enthusiasts could add display units and keyboards, formed the basis for Apple’s innovative and influential future products.

Fastforward 40 years and tech lovers can get their hands on iPods the size of stamps, ultra-powerful iPhones and paperweight Macbooks with thousands of times the power of Apple’s first desktop machines.

Along the way Apple has also pioneered technology that we now take for granted – from computer mice to tangle-free headphones.

Here’s a history of Apple’s products over the last 40 years, from the original Apple computer to the very latest iPhone.
