Yahoo Celebrity’s 10 Best TV Shows of 2015
- 1/10
10. Celebrity Big Brother (Channel 5)
Not one but two explosive series of Celebrity Big Brother had us on edge in 2015. The year kicked off with a bang with the most controversial series yet in January as motormouth Katie Hopkins and American loudmouth Perez Hilton entered the house. There was also Jeremy Jackson’s ‘groping’ scandal… CBB bosses certainly put together a wild cast this year. - 2/10
9. I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! (ITV)
Would this year’s I’m a Celeb have been worth watching without Lady C? The eccentric royal author caused a rumble in the jungle by rubbing pretty much all the other celebs the wrong way. She even accused Duncan Bannatyne and Tony Hadley of being bullies - only for ITV to hit back and say she was the inappropriate one. We don’t know how they do it, but I’m a Celeb manages to hook us in every year! - 3/10
8. Catastrophe (Channel 4) / Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix)
OK, so we’re cheating here by combining two shows but this was the year new comedy really made its mark. Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s delightful Catastrophe hit screens with charm and wit as two strangers decide to raise a baby together after a casual one night stand. Meanwhile, Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt featured characters so loveable and funny that we couldn’t help but binge-watch in the space of a day. Special shoutout to the amazing Titus Andromedon Long live Pinoooooootttt Noirrrr! Yahoo News is better in the app

7. Narcos (Netflix)
Netflix really spoiled us this year. Like, really. As well as kicking off its new deal with Marvel with the brilliant Daredevil and Jessica Jones, and the aforementioned Kimmy Schmidt, it also introduced us to the gritty world of Medellin, Columbia, in Narcos. Based on the true story of drug lord Pablo Escobar’s billion-dollar illegal enterprise, Narcos was gripping from start to finish and featured a powerful performance from Wagner Moura as Escobar. We were OBSESSED! - 5/10
6. Humans (Channel 4)
Hopes were incredibly high for Channel 4′s highly publicised, big budget drama Humans over the summer. After all, it was a co-production with American Channel AMC - the very network behind The Walking Dead, Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Thankfully, Humans did not disappoint - not one bit. Gemma Chan gave a beautiful performance as robot synth Anita/Mia, while The IT Crowd’s Katherine Parkinson continued to show she is a powerhouse dramatic actress. This was the British sci-fi show for adults that we have been waiting for. And thankfully there’ll be a second series! - 6/10
5. The Great British Bake Off (BBC One)
We love Bake Off. We love it every single year. But this year we REALLY loved it. In its best series ever, Bake Off made a total superstar out of stay-at-home mum Nadiya Hussain, who won the public over with her amazing facial expressions and self-deprecating humour. We also loved Tamal, Ugne, Mat, Paul… basically all of them! And let’s be honest, any time Mary Berry is on our screens, you can’t go wrong. 4. EastEnders (BBC One)
After nearly a year, EastEnders finally revealed Lucy Beale’s killer during its Live Week spectacular in February to mark the soap’s 30th year on air. While we’re still not too sure about Bobby being the killer, it’s hard to deny that there were some incredibly moving performances from Adam Woodyatt and Laurie Brett, who play Ian and Jane Beale, and what’s more - they did several of those emotional scenes LIVE. EastEnders continued to deliver throughout the year with the shock return of Kathy Beale, the continuing Dean Wicks storyline and more. What a year in Walford! - 8/10
3. Empire (E4)
We can’t even imagine life before Cookie Lyon. Because a life before Cookie was not a life worth living. This year, American channel FOX unleashed its music industry drama Empire and made a total star out of Taraji P. Henson. With the camp drama of Dallas and Dynasty perfectly meshed with catchy tunes (Drip drop, drip drippity drop), Empire is one of the year’s biggest new TV dramas. And did we mention Cookie Lyon?! - 9/10
2. First Dates (Channel 4)
This was the year we really fell in love with Channel 4′s dating show, which, in our opinion, is up there with Gogglebox as the channel’s best show ever. From the awkward to the adorable, we’ve loved watching these brave souls let their first dates play out on national TV. From Buzz Lightyear lookalike Hugo, to Georgia and Alex finally getting to go on a date, the latest series has been brilliant. In fact, First Dates is so brilliant that one couple who met on the show even just got engaged. AWWW! Yahoo News is better in the app

1. Doctor Foster (BBC One)
Can we just give Suranne Jones all the awards please? This incredible five-part dissection of modern day marriage, with all its ugly lies and adultery, had us hooked every single week. We cried with Gemma Foster as she learned the truth about her husband’s affair, we cheered when she got her own back, and we gasped at that dinner table showdown. Doctor Foster is the BBC and British drama at its best - cleverly told and brilliantly acted. If this was American, we can’t help but think they’d drag out the story over a million episodes and the drama wouldn’t be nearly as subtle and nuanced as writer Mike Bartlett has achieved with Doctor Foster. If Suranne Jones doesn’t win a BAFTA, Emmy and NTA, it’ll be a gross injustice!
What a year it’s been on telly - from Nadiya Hussain winning Bake Off to Cookie Lyon snatching wigs left, right and centre on Empire.
We got all emosh as EastEnders revealed Bobby Beale as sister Lucy’s killer in February, while the likes of Hollyoaks, Corrie and Emmerdale also kept us on the edge of our seats in soap land.
There was plenty of reality TV drama too from an explosive series of Celebrity Big Brother featuring Katie Hopkins to Lady C’s antics on I’m a Celebrity.
Then there were the dramas! Oh, the dramas. We were spoiled for choice this year with shows such as Game of Thrones, Humans, London Spy and more.
