Folk on the Quay makes return to Poole

POOLE'S annual folk festival has returned to the Quay under sunny skies.

Folk on the Quay returned on Saturday, June 29, after it was nearly cancelled by BCP Council.

With four stages and a variety of musical acts, Poole Arms and The Lord Nelson landlords, Michelle Smith and Anna Doyle, were incredibly happy to see it return after their hard effort to protect summer events on the quay.

Anna said: "Everyone is happy and smiling, it's small but with the time scales involved, we've held the date and we've got everything back on.

"It's brilliant for us to get right up to the customs house", Michelle added.

"They're normally left out so we've managed to get them involved too."

An array of stalls were also at the festival which included Smiling Seas, who spend their free time out on Dorset beaches collecting rubbish.

The rubbish gets sent to a company called Ocean Recovery Project who then turn it into usable objects.

Founder of SS, Emily House, said: "Today is just about fundraising and making people get into beach cleaning more.

"So many people aren't quite aware of the devastation it is causing. Every single beach clean I go on I find at least three dead birds at the minute."
