Pierce Brosnan Painted a Portrait of Bob Dylan, and It Just Sold for How Much?!

Pierce Brosnan is a man of many talents. One of them is painting really, really expensive artwork.

The Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again star attended amfAR’s 25th annual Cinema Against AIDS event in Cannes, France, on May 17, and put a portrait he painted of Bob Dylan up for auction just for the heck of it. It caught the eye of Ukrainian billionaire Mariana Acton, and $1.4 million later it was hers.

“I was gobsmacked,” Brosnan told The Hollywood Reporter about the experience in this week’s issue. “My wife [Keely Shaye Smith] and I enjoyed the night—it was a magical night and a great evening for a worthy cause.”

So how did they celebrate? Brosnan, who has been painting since 1987, revealed that he and his wife are opening a gallery in Paris in early 2019 to fill with his works. He says they plan to sift through his 153 pieces of art and “whittle that down to 20 to 30 pieces and make a buck.”

May you be blessed with plenty more hefty sales and Ukrainian billionaires, Brosnan.
