Piers Morgan challenges Andrew Tate over criticism of Amanda Holden's bikini posts
The TalkTV presenter travelled to Romania to interview the social media influencer who is under house arrest facing allegations of human trafficking.
What did you miss?
Piers Morgan has challenged Andrew Tate over his criticism of Amanda Holden posting pictures of herself in a bikini on social media.
The outspoken presenter has interviewed the controversial social media influencer on his TalkTV show Piers Morgan Uncensored, and used the opportunity to defend his friend and former Britain's Got Talent co-star.
Morgan travelled to Romania to meet the kickboxer - who is under house arrest facing allegations of human trafficking - and questioned him about promoting misogynistic views to young men on social media, as well as his time in jail.
What, how, and why?
Morgan quizzed Tate, 36, on his criticism of his TV star friend Holden, 52, for posting "thirst" pictures on social media.
Tate had commented on a picture Holden shared on her Instagram account of herself showering in a bikini, saying: "You are a wife and a mother and you're far past a teenager. There is no need for this post."
Morgan challenged: "It's just misogynist to say that. Why can't a woman of her age show off her beautiful body like that?"
Tate said: "You can call me crazy, you can call me misogynistic, but I think once a woman reaches the rip age of 50 any woman should not be interested in thirst trapping on Instagram.
"I think she has bigger responsibilities. I'm sure she is a very intelligent lady, she has done amazing things.
"She is famous, she's obviously very capable and I think she can do things more interesting than standing around trying to thirst trap on Instagram like she's 18."
He went on: "I wasn't insulting her, I was reminding her that she is such a fantastic person and she's so achieved that she is above thirst trapping.
"As a feminist, we're all feminists here right we all believe in women empowerment, I am reminding her of her worth."
Questioned further on whether he is a misogynist Tate said: “If you are with a man of my stature, you don’t have to work… I think a man should provide for a woman… I have no female hate at all. I have never had a negative interaction with a woman ever.”
What else happened during Piers Morgan's interview with Andrew Tate
Tate opened up on his time in a cockroach invested "dungeon" in Romania and admitted his year had been "grim".
Tate and his brother Tristan are facing allegations of human trafficking and being part of an organised crime gang, which they deny.
They were arrested with two other suspects in Romania in December 2022.
Tate told Morgan: "I have been constrained this entire year. I spent 93 days in a Romanian dungeon, five months locked in my house, and now I am restrained within the country of Romania, so it has certainly been a turbulent time…"
He said of his time in prison: "Luckily, it was in the winter, so the cockroaches were not too bad...
"I wasn't allowed out, there was no yard time. It was 24 hours a day locked in a single room, probably three or four steps large, and you do nothing but stare at the wall and you think… Life is grim."
