Piers Morgan bonds with Ariana Grande following restaurant meet

In perhaps the most unlikely team-up in recent memory, Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan appears to have made a friend in Ariana Grande.

She's a pop music icon whose music fills the eardrums of millions, whilst he's a serial wind-up merchant who goes in on Daniel Craig's parenting skills for fun – so, what gives?

Posting on Twitter, Piers told his followers: "So... we bumped into each other in a LA restaurant, she joined me for 'a chat' & 2 hours later we were still chatting. We laughed, we argued, she cried, I nearly did, the drinks flowed & we bonded.

"Turns out we really like each other. Weird. Thank u ⁦@ArianaGrande⁩ - next?"

Clearly enamoured by the music star's company, he also added "Thank u for a great night @ArianaGrande x".

This surprising social media love quickly turned into an exchange.

Ariana replied: "thank u for some laughs and some v productive conversation ! it was nice bumping into u ! #FutureFeministPiers #FingersCrossed".

However, some of the American singer's fans weren't too impressed by her communication with Piers, as one user reflected "Girl why?", whilst another wrote: "the simulation is glitching".

The two have a pretty complicated history, having had their fair share of social media beef over the years. But it looks like all that's now in the past. Besties?

Meanwhile, Ariana recently made UK chart history with her single 'Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored', which kicked her own track '7 Rings' off the number one spot.

The 25-year-old became the first female artist in the history of the UK singles chart to achieve the incredible feat.
