Piers Morgan warns ‘cowardly threats have consequences’ after suspected troll arrested

Piers Morgan has warned that “cowardly threats have consequences” after it was reported that a troll has been arrested over allegedly making death threats against him.

The former Good Morning Britain star, 56, reportedly received messages telling him that he was “a marked man” and that it was a “promise” that he was “getting killed”.

The troll also threatened Morgan’s 28-year-old son Spencer, who was told that he would “get it” if his dad did not.

The Sun reported that a suspect has been arrested for allegedly making death threats.

Morgan told the paper - where he is returning as a columnist - that a line had to be "drawn" when it came to trolls.

“People think it’s perfectly OK to make death threats to public figures on social media but it’s not - there has to be a line drawn, especially when family members are targeted," he said.

“That’s why I reported it and I am grateful to the Met Police and Greater Manchester Police for taking it so seriously.”

Morgan also addressed the allegations on Twitter.

Sharing a picture of The Sun's article, he wrote: “Cowardly threats have consequences.”

The Metropolitan Police and Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for confirmation.

In February, Morgan told his fans on social media that he had received threats.

He later updated his followers to say that he had contacted the police.
