The ever-opinionated Piers Morgan has spoken out about yesterday's (January 21) Women's March in the US, calling out Scarlett Johansson in particular.

Writing for the Daily Mail, Piers labelled celebrities taking part in the movement "hypocrites" and criticised the "sanctimonious Scarlett" for being 'inconsistent in her moral outrage'.

(Fasten your seatbelts, guys.)

Following Scarlett's impassioned speech at the Women's March in Los Angeles (which singled out James Franco for wearing a Time's Up pin), Piers questioned her support for Woody Allen.

Although the actress didn't mention Franco by name in the speech, her rep later confirmed that her comments – "I want my pin back, by the way" – were directed at the actor following claims of sexually inappropriate behaviour made against him.

Hitting out at Johansson's "outrage", Piers called her attitude "curious" and "very conflicting" due to her continued support of director Woody Allen, who has faced allegations of sexual abuse from his adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow.

Referencing her working relationship with Allen and an encounter the actress once had with Roman Polanksi, who pleaded guilty to statutory rape in the 1970s, Piers called her speech an "odd reaction".

"The world's most famous town, wracked by guilt post Weinstein, has wrapped itself in a virtue signalling vice from which I see no escape," he added.

"[It] wouldn't be so bad if all this new moral outrage had any kind of consistency to it. Instead, we're left with the likes of sanctimonious Scarlett crucifying James Franco but taking Woody Allen's pay-checks and hugging it out with Roman Polanski.

"If you think #TimesUp for these Hollywood hypocrites, #MeToo."
