Piers Morgan is set to grill London mayor Sadiq Khan over his ULEZ scheme as he teased "two big exclusives" for his return to Uncensored.

The broadcaster has been taking a summer break from his TalkTV show Uncensored, with Rosanna Lockwood standing in for him.

But Morgan, 58, is due back on screen on Monday night and has a bumper line-up of political exclusives from both sides of the pond.

He tweeted: "Back with a bang tonight with TWO big exclusives.. London’s controversial mayor @SadiqKhan makes his @PiersUncensored debut, and the break-out star of the US presidential race @VivekGRamaswamy will be live on the show. Tune in at 8pm!"

The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) scheme expanded across all London boroughs on 29 August in a bid to clean up the air quality in the capital.

Supporters of the plan have praised the reduction in air pollution and its potential to improve respiratory problems for Londoners, but critics have complained that it leaves many people who rely on driving for work unable to afford a ULEZ-compliant vehicle.

Morgan was also briefly replaced by his channel mate Jeremy Kyle for a show in August when Lockwood had to pull out of hosting last minute after a sudden bereavement.

At the end of his own TalkTV show, Kyle told viewers: "No Rosanna Lockwood tonight, so do you know who's doing Piers Morgan Uncensored tonight?

"It's me, I do apologise to everybody. It's me, they've given me an extra hour - I'm hugely excited."

Morgan is not the only TV presenter to be returning to work today after a long summer break.

Holly Willoughby was back on the This Morning sofa at ITV, where she was joined by co-host Alison Hammond.

Willoughby, whose former co-host Phillip Schofield quit the show after 21 years in May with details emerging of his affair with a much younger colleague, added an extra two weeks to her usual six-week summer break by finishing on 6 July.

On her return to the daytime show on Monday, she appeared to hint that This Morning had been revamped for the new season.

Dancing with Hammond during the episode opening, she said: "What a start to the show. It's so good to see you all. We are back from our summer break.

"With a new season comes new adventures."

Willoughby also appeared to confirm that she would be attending Tuesday's National Television Awards ceremony despite the controversy surrounding This Morning.
