Buyers on A Place in the Sun were hit with "hard graft" after they secured their dream home.

Today's episode saw Laura Hamilton help Zoe and Neil find their new property in France. The couple were armed with a maximum budget of £250,000 and wanted to permanently relocate to the French countryside.

Zoe was blown away by the final home on the search and wanted to immediately put in an offer. She said: "This just captured my heart.

"We just want to put in an offer. I don't think we need to even sleep on it."

Zoe was in tears as they landed the stunning property in Duras for £250,000. The two provided an update with how the relocation went with the official A Place in the Sun website and said the renovation project involved a lot of "hard graft".

Zoe said: "Our romantic notion was that we’d do up the cottage and be moved in within a couple of months. Instead we first tackled ‘emergency’ repairs – leaks, blocked gutters and holes – and then we started the cottage. We found lots of 1970s cement covering up the old limestone walls – and when stripped off you find it’s rotted. We have spent months stripping off the old cement. Now I am repointing the walls with a mixture of sand and lime. I have (luckily) discovered I like re-pointing. It’s quite mindful. But every day is hard graft.”

Zoe said the renovations is taking longer than expected but is thrilled with their decision. She said: "I was so optimistic that we’d do each part of the property every three months but I was so wrong.

"But I feel so content – every day I feel like I have achieved something, which is so much better than when I did that every few weeks as a project manager in IT.”

The two also got more than they bargained for as they also have inherited four new cats from the last owner, who moved into a care home. She said: "It was also winter and bitterly cold. We sat around a roaring fire with our four new pets."
