A Place in the Sun star Laura Hamilton on secret health battle
A Place In the Sun Laura Hamilton spoke out on her hidden health battle. The star appeared on Saturday's episode of BBC Pointless Celebrities.
The popular quiz show sees contestants search for the correct answers that nobody who was surveyed managed to come up with.
Laura competed with fellow co-star and close friend Jasmine Harman. The presenters formed a special friendship after working together on the Channel 4 show.

The duo were also joined by Georgia Steel, David Potts, Topsy Ojo, Maggie Alphonsi, Kai Samra and Dane Baptiste. The duo managed to make it all the way to the end as they attempted to win £2,750 for their chosen charity. Just before their final question, host Alexander Armstrong asked them both who they were playing for.
Jasmine answered first and said: “I'm playing for the Retreat Animal Rescue, which is an animal sanctuary in Kent. It's run by a guy called Billy and he is so passionate about rescuing farmed animals. So that’s my Charity.”
Laura went on to say: “And I’m playing for the ITP Support Association. ITP is immune thrombocytopenia. The star then revealed: “It’s something that I suffer from. It’s an autoimmune disease - a low platelet count in your blood. So I’m supporting them.”
In ITP, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys platelets. Symptoms of ITP can include easy bruising, petechiae (small red or purple spots on the skin), nosebleeds, and bleeding gums. In severe cases, internal bleeding can occur.
Alexander was rooting for the pair to win as he added: “Two great charities there, let's hope your answers win the jackpot for your charities.” Unfortunately the pair were left gutted as they missed out on the jackpot prize however they didn’t leave empty handed as Alexander revealed that they would all get £250 to donate to their chosen charity.
Laura previously refused to cover her bruises from ITP during filming for A Place in the Sun. At the time she shared a montage of clips on Instagram and said: "What a great few days filming something new in the sun. My legs are covered in bruises, but with ITP that is often the case and I'll never let it stop me from doing the things I love!"
