A Place in the Sun's Jean Johansson was gobsmacked as buyers on today's show ignored her warning.

The host was helping Sarah and Ian find their perfect holiday home in Lanzarote for the whole family. The couple were looking for a spacious home with two bedrooms on the Canary Island.

However, Jean was alarmed when she revealed they had a maximum of £110,000 to spend. She said: "I'm going to be straight with you guys.

"At this moment in time, with this market, I'm not going to be able to get you two bedrooms. It's pretty impossible.

"I'm going to get you the very best I can for £110,000." The buyers loved the final home on the search, which was a refurbished apartment in Costa Teguise.

The home was priced at £116,807 and Jean was relieved she finally found the "dream home". However, Ian decided to not put a bid in as he said the single bedroom apartment was not large enough.

Jean was gobsmacked by the revelation as she said: "Another bedroom? With your budget? As I explained on the beach at the very beginning of this, you will not get another bedroom for that budget. I thought you were quite happy with the space."

Sarah added: "We do need a second bedroom. We're either going to have to up the budget or look in a different area."

Jean was pleased she could help the couple progress in their search even though they did not find the home. She said: "What you really want on this island is going to cost you a lot more money so to hear that you have changed your main search area may help you. I really do hope you can find a property that can accommodate you."
