During a recent episode of A Place in the Sun, presenter Laura Hamilton delivered some disappointing news. Fronting Tuesday's episode (June 25) of the well-loved Channel 4 show, Laura was assisting Michael and Sami in their quest to locate their dream holiday home in Malaga.

The hopeful buyers were on the lookout for a three-bedroom property equipped with a pool, having set their maximum budget at £280,000. However, the search was far from smooth sailing, as some of their viewings left them feeling underwhelmed.

A glimmer of hope emerged when Laura presented the final property, a charming three-bedroom finca in Alhaurin, which immediately struck a chord with our househunters. Priced just beyond their budget limit at £284,482, they decided to throw their hat into the ring with an opening bid of £260,000.

Laura commented: "It is a bit cheeky. But let's try.", reports the Liverpool Echo. This low-ball strategy seemed to backfire, however, when after negotiating with the seller, Laura had some regrettable news to share.

She dejectedly reported, "In the time that we've been sat here going back and forth with offers, the owner has decided to do another viewing with someone else. Obviously, he's now wanting to hear what they have to say. So he wants to think about things overnight because if they offer and it's more than 270 then he'll go with them."

Apologising profusely for this unexpected twist, she continued: "I'm really really sorry. It's not the best news. It has been an incredibly tough search and incredibly tough negotiations."

Luckily, her next update brought better tidings as she announced, right before the credits rolled, that the competing bid had fallen through.

She revealed: "The story didn't end there. The other people who were viewing the house made an offer at asking price, which was accepted so Sami and Michael thought they had lost it.

"But that offer then fell through. Just over three weeks after we finished filming the father and son returned to Spain to finally buy the house with all the furniture thrown in for just under £275,000. What a great deal."
