Plans are afoot to reopen a Cheshire country pub. Queens Head in Sarn, near Malpas, which is close to the Welsh border, permanently closed a number of years ago.

Last year, property expert Everard Cole was marketing the pub as a freehold opportunity. Offers in the region of £225,000 were being invited.

Now, plans to reopen the premises have emerged after Lupea Ltd lodged a premises licence application with Cheshire West and Chester Council. It proposes to open from 10am until 12.30am, Monday to Saturday, and 10am until midnight on Sunday.

Alcohol would be supplied from 10am until midnight, Monday to Saturday, and from midday until 11.30pm on Sunday. The application states: "Bar located in a village town on a road. Area is residential.

"Detached property with car park for customers. Building comprises games room, bar area, dining area, kitchen. Ground floor bar/restaurant, kitchen, two sets of toilets." Public consultation runs until May 23.
