Plastic gloves and litter on a footpath in Yarnton has been described as 'unbelievable' by a Yarnton resident.

David Brimson is a regular runner in Yarnton, and he claims he has had to pick up fuel gloves that have blown onto the footpath behind the Shell garage on the A44.

He has concerns about the litter on the footpath and in the hedges.

Mr Brimson said in a post on X (formerly Twitter): "The state of the footpath behind the Shell/Londis garage was unbelievable today.

"There were fuel gloves all over - I ended up picking them all up."

He said: "I go running daily, and the garage footpath, verge, and lay by is full of litter.

"In the winter, you can see more gloves and litter, including fly tipping.

"Empty boxes in the garage are packed high in the trolley and are blown off and recently, the garage fence has been removed.

"Although low, it helped stop gloves from being blown into the undergrowth.

"If there is wind [the rubbish] blows over the top and goes into the verge."

In response to these concerns, Hussain, site manager of the Shell garage in Yarnton, said: “A new fence was installed yesterday (June 30), so from our side nothing is going into the footpath side.”

Green candidate for Bicester and Woodstock, Ian Middleton went to the path behind the garage to assess the rubbish.

He said: "Its been a lot worse than this in the past.

"It looks like [the garage have] done a clean up - it’s a problem in general.

"People regard the countryside as a dustbin.
