The family of a missing man from York who was last seen over two months ago have made an emotional plea for him to come home.

Seth Martin, 31, who is originally from Spain, was last seen at his home in the Clifton area of York at around 9am on Saturday, February 24.

Seth's sister, Cherli Martin Jiménez, explained that he moved to the UK almost 11 years ago when he was just 21 years old. But last time she spoke to her younger brother, Seth told her that he wanted to move back to Spain.

“He said he wanted to be with us - his family,” Cheril, a 36-year-old waitress from Santa Cruz de Tenerife said. She said that she felt “a huge emptiness” when she heard the news her brother was missing, adding: “I felt fear, anguish, sadness - I felt like I wanted to disappear with him.”

Four days after Seth’s disappearance, on February 28, North Yorkshire Police began searching the River Ouse following reports that a body had been seen in the water. However nothing was found and over two months since he was last seen, the search for Seth continues.

“He really liked going down to the river to paint - that was his hobby, and it was close to his home,” Cherli said. “But this is so out of character for him - he left everything behind and just disappeared.

“It’s impossible that my brother would choose to do this to us. Please come home Seth, no matter what happened. We (his five sisters) are here for you.”

Cherli explained that the family have been told by detectives that the search for Seth has been widened, and they want to appeal for the public’s help to find him. She said: “The police have extended the search area in the river. According to the detective, the search extended further south of Naburn Lock, to Hales Hill Park.

“If anyone was there on February 24 between 1pm and 5pm and saw anything, please contact North Yorkshire Police.”

Seth is described as 6ft 2ins tall, of slim build with a tanned complexion. He has brown hair, a distinctive moustache and several tattoos including the words 'Queen Mother' written in Spanish on his left wrist.
