Plymouth Argyle linked with loan move for striker Muhamed Tijani

Speculation is increasing about Plymouth Argyle signing Nigerian striker Muhamed Tijani on a season-long loan from Czech First League club Slavia Prague.

The 23-year-old Nigerian forward is in Plymouth to complete medical tests, according to Paris-based sports journalist Ojora Babatunde, who first reported in mid-June that Tijani was 'set to join a Championship side on loan'.

Tijani joined Slavia from Czech First League rivals Banik Ostrava last summer but had only a limited amount of game time during the 2023/24 season.

Slavia finished as league runners-up to Sparta Prague and also reached the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League, where they lost 7-3 on aggregate to Italian side AC Milan and Tijani was an unused substitute in both legs.

It was reported by Czech website infotbol.cz on June 26 that Tijani was set to sign for Argyle on a season-long loan, with an option to buy. The striker, who played for Nigeria at the Under-20 World Cup in 2019, was apparently given permission by Slavia to find a new team in May.

Tijani joined Banik Ostrava in 2018 from Nigerian club 36 Lion FC and played for them, as well as having a few loan spells, before moving to Slavia last June.
